"Better Learning Together"
The Dunstan Kāhui Ako , based in the heart of Central Otago, includes 2000 students and approximately 155 educators. This includes nine Early Childhood Centres, eight Primary Schools and one High School. Our ākonga and Kaiako live in rural and semi rural environments where communities are important. There is a traditional educational pathway with most students progressing from Early Childhood Centres geographically close to our Primary Schools and on through to Dunstan High School in Alexandra.
Our Purpose
The Dunstan Kāhui Ako believes every student deserves to learn through a range of opportunities that will lead to success in life.
We believe Our students will make the best progress when we have teachers with strong pedagogy and curriculum knowledge plus the engagement of all stakeholders including whānau and extended communities with the same goals in mind.
We are also committed to the coherent pathways from Early Childhood, through Primary and High School and onto Tertiary with a huge focus to ensure that the transition points are smooth and seamless for all of our tamariki.
Our Vision
Our power as a Kāhui Ako is in collaborating together to communicate and share ideas, resources and expertise; to build a better, stronger community and strengthen our professional networks and understanding of best teacher practice across our sectors.
Poutai Herenga (Powerful Partnerships)
Whanaungatanga (Building and Making Connections)
These values allow the Dunstan Kāhui Ako to focus on building relationships and making powerful connections across the Dunstan community of learning to develop a sense of shared experiences.
