Recording of the Dunstan Kāhui Ako pepeha - great for getting correct pronunciation
The Kapa Haka collaborative group have gained outstanding recognition from performances at the 2023 Principal's Conference in Queenstown, at the 2023 and 2024 Alexandra Blossom Festivals, and at the Dunstan Kahui Ako Regional Hui in April 2024.
In 2024 the Kāhui Ako are hosting upskilling sessions to help kaiako across the rohe with cultural responsiveness. The aim is to improve mihi whakatau practices, te reo pronunciation, guidance on mihimihi, pepeha in classrooms and other areas of need.
CULTURAL NARRATIVE
At the beginning of 2022, Megan Potiki, on behalf of local Kai Tahu company Aukaha, created our local cultural narrative. It is a wonderful document based on the history of Kai Tahu in the Uruuruwhenua region. It contains details around flora, fauna, Kai Tahi values, legends and the creation story, as well as food gathering, among other aspects of life. It is available for you to download and read here.
